You may not have known, but Spa One is not Cheryl Thibault’s first rodeo.
Cheryl Thibault, who resides in Arbutus Ridge, has been a leader in the beauty industry for over 40 years. She is a hairdresser, esthetician, nail technician, spa therapist, entrepreneur, visionary, spa owner, beauty school director and CEO, nail competition judge, mentor, author and podcast host. Given her host of entrepreneurial and personal endeavors, she decided it was time to launch her own website where she could showcase her latest works.
“Launching my first book was the most terrifying thing for me” exclaims Cheryl “as that meant talking about ME personally and all the life experiences that led me down this amazing path in life”. Cheryl found it easier to hide behind her businesses, giving everyone else credit and exposure, while working on the next business venture in the background.
Since that first launch of Visionary Women Leaders: Discovering the Greatness Within You, whereby she was a guest contributor, she went on to contribute to yet another best-selling book, Disrupting the Status Quo: Entrepreneurial Women Show How to Crush Mediocrity and Maximize Your Potential and is now thrilled to launching her very own book where she invites a host of guest contributors in the world of beauty.
While Career in the Beauty Industry: Discover If it is For You hits the presses, Cheryl has been busy preparing a series of “Walk of Life” video podcast episodes. Cheryl says “I am having so much fun interviewing some of the most amazing people in the world, including some of the people closest to me. Everyone has a story to tell, whether its tragic, uplifting, inspirational or funny!”
Spa One opened in October 2019, and within months had to shut down for several weeks due to the pandemic. Fortunately, by the end of May 2020, the spa was able to re-open and has not looked back since. The day spa, located at the Valleyview Centre in Cobble Hill, offers services in Esthetics, Nail Technology and Spa Therapy. Last winter, they brought in new retail product including clothing and jewelry lines. Spa-related product lines available for purchase include Eminence skin care, Spa One skin and body care and cosmetics, and CUCCIO body care. The product and service offerings are continuously expanding.
“We love providing a relaxed and casual experience for our clientele that offers a true spa experience where they know they will receive top notch services by people who truly care!” says Cheryl.
In 2005, Cheryl turned her bricks and mortar beauty school into a 100% online educational platform. Mirage Spa Education Inc. offers seven Diploma courses in Esthetics, Nail Technology and Spa Therapy and graduates thousands annually from around the world. This has been Cheryl’s pride and joy, as she takes pleasure in positively changing the lives of people just starting out or making a career change.
Watching her students’ success as they enter the world of beauty as new graduates or accomplished nail techs and estheticians inspired her to write the first of her books speaking to the vast opportunities the industry can offer. “Those looking to invest in an education want some certainty that they are making the right career choice” says Cheryl, “so I wanted to draw on my many years of experience, along with the personal success stories of all the co-authors, to instill confidence in prospective students that this career choice can equal job security, sustainability and safety, particularly in a world of uncertainty.”

Wow…a really interesting read! I didn’t realize that Ms. Thibault had authored so many books. Would it be accurate to say that she is a motivational type author/speaker? Once again, great article!
